Surelight Glow Wire at New York Exhibition – Designer Sophie Hedderwick

British textile artist Sophie Hedderwick is this month exhibiting her ‘Lights Out’ glow wire design in the Broadway Gallery, New York. The exhibition is organised by the NYArts Magazine who initially asked Sophie to feature in their annual catalogue of the ‘World Best Art Websites’.

‘Lights Out’ consists of 3 hanging panels with our Surelight sound activated glow wires shaped as words, which glow to the music specially written for a group of percussion instruments.

Working alongside composer Jonathan Girling who is writing an original score to activate the electroluminescent wires, Sophie will also be working with RSC actor Forbes Masson and percussionist Jaynie Maynard. Each panel will light up the neon glow wire words in harmony or counter-point to the musical score.

Sophie also recently exhibited her glow wire designs at IMM, Cologne and has also been asked by German TV if they can feature her ‘Lights Out ‘ design on an interiors programme.  The photo on the left was taken at 100% in London and was featured in Design Diffusion News.

NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM ILLUMINATES WITH GLOW WIRE

Using Purple and White Super Bright Surelight Glow Wire, Fisher Productions utilised our bespoke design services to the full, to create a stunning lighting design for the Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony at the Natural History Museum on 17th May 2007.

Their design included one of our 32 Channel DMX interface units, to power the wire.  This allowed each wire to be controlled on seperate channels, creating fantastic special effects for the event; the wires rippled and chased each other at spectacular speeds.  The event was a huge success and Fisher Productions told us “Thanks for the kit, the event went great. The client was really pleased”.

“Thank you for the great kit. The event was a huge success and the client was extremely happy. Look forward to working with you again.”
